Takenaka Mikio served as a visiting researcher in robotics at Stanford University in the United States in 1998. In 2004, he was responsible for robotics and tactile research at Sony's Frontier Research Institute, where he was involved in the commercialization of the tactile interaction interface Touch Engine. In 2019, he conducted research on tactile mechanisms and the quantification of tactile sensations at Sony's Frontier Research Institute. Since 2020, he has been serving as the director of Sony China Research Institute, dedicated to promoting Sony's entertainment, metaverse, mobile, and robotics businesses in China, and exploring solutions to social issues such as agriculture, elderly care, and education.
