Professor Gu Xiaosong is the director of the National Key Laboratory of Advanced Medical Materials and Medical Devices, and the director of the Key Laboratory of Organizational Engineering Technology Product Research and Evaluation of the State Drug Administration. He was awarded the first National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. He was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015 and a member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 2019. For more than 30 years, he led the academic team to achieve outstanding innovative research results in tissue engineering and nerve regeneration research : he proposed the academic point of view of ' constructing biodegradable tissue engineering nerve ', which was included as a new concept in the new textbook of Cambridge University ; invented a new technology and new process to construct tissue-engineered nerve ; the chitosan artificial nerve graft has been used in clinical practice with excellent results. It has been approved by the State Drug Administration for registration and listing ( China National Machinery Standard 20203130898 ), selected as " China 's important medical progress in 2020, " and obtained Chinese invention patents and international invention patents such as the United States, Eurasia, and Australia. It plays an important role in entering the international leading position for the innovation and transformation application of tissue-engineered nerves in China. Science magaz
