WU Yirong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Director-General of the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), CAS. Throughout his career, Prof. Wu has been deeply involved in the design and development of microwave imaging technology and large-scale remote sensing ground processing systems, contributing significantly to the advancement of China’s national aerial remote sensing systems. In the field of microwave imaging, Prof. Wu is renowned for his pioneering work in inventing multidimensional microwave imaging technology and sparse microwave imaging technology. Additionally, his expertise in remote sensing satellite ground processing and application systems has led to the identification of a series of theoretical puzzles and the development of key technologies, thereby enhancing China's technical prowess in this field. He has led the construction of the national aerial remote sensing system and propelled the development of a series of internationally leading aerial payloads. In recognition of his contributions, Prof. Wu has been honored with multiple awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Innovation Award, the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the Chen Jiageng Science Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, among others.
