Professor Emeritus Michael Hood of the University of Queensland, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (FATSE ), and a Foreign Associate of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (FCAE). graduated from Newcastle University, U.K. He was a senior researcher at Lawrence National Laboratory, U.S.A., an associate professor at the University of California, Berkeley, head of the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Queensland, director of Denison Gas Pty Ltd, Director of Denison Gas Pty Ltd, Distinguished Professor at Chongqing University, and Chairman of the World Mining Congress. Professor Hood is an internationally recognized leader in the development, application and commercialization of new mining and energy technologies. He has conducted long-term, systematic and in-depth research in high-pressure water jet theory, mine safety and coal-bed methane development, and commercialization models of research results, and has made significant contributions to rapid tunneling of hard rock tunnels in mines, efficient extraction of metal mines and unconventional oil and gas extraction. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the utilization of underground mineral resources, clean and low-carbon energy technology development and application research.
