Chi Wang is a research professor and the director general of National Space Science Center (NSSC), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wang has over 25 years of experience in utilising spacecraft-platforms to study the properties of the magnetosphere and heliosphere. He is the PI of the Chinese Meridian Project, which is the ground-based space environment monitoring chain in China, the Co-PI of the joint ESA-China space science mission SMILE (Solar Wind – Magnetosphere – Ionosphere Link Explorer), which is a new mission to image the magnetosphere, and the vice chief engineer of Chinese Lunar Mission CE4. He is also currently managing the Chinese Strategic Priority Program on Space Science and the chief scientist of 4th phase of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program. Dr. Wang received National Outstanding Young Scientist Award from Chinese National Science Foundation in 2003, 9th National Science and Technology Award for Youth of China in 2006. He was elected as an IAA Member in basic science in 2017 and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019. Dr. Wang also serves as a member of the executive committee for international organizations including International Living with a Star (ILWS), International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI), Scientific Committee on Solar Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) and Committee of Space Research (COSPAR) etc.
