To strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology innovation, and promote the construction of Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center and Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Area of Pinggu District, 2020 ZGC Forum hosted by the People's Government of Pinggu District was held under the guidance of ZGC Management Committee on September 2, 2020-- The Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Forum was successfully held in Beijing Zhongguancun Exhibition Center!

In 2019, the Government of Beijing Municipality officially approved the Pinggu District Planning (planning of national land space (2017-2035), and clarified the functional positioning of “three districts and one port”. Led by the development of six industries, including the modern seed industry, smart agriculture, and agricultural intelligent equipment, etc., Pinggu District strives to create an agricultural science and technology innovation demonstration area. In addition, Pinggu District has been integrated into the green innovation cluster highland layout of the whole city with the “Three Cities and One District” project. The Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Area of Pinggu District takes building the “Agricultural ZGC” as the overall orientation, integrates scientific research, talents, industries, and other factors, strengthens the supporting and leading role of scientific and technological innovation, improves the ability of agricultural science and technology innovation, accelerates the transformation of scientific research achievements, and promotes high-quality development of agriculture. Learning from the “Golden Triangle” cooperation model of Netherlands, Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) is a substantive, open and non-profit innovation institution which integrates “technology research and development, display and demonstration, achievement transformation, talent training, international communication, and strategic consultation” and is the core engine of Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Area of Pinggu District.

ZGC Forum, based on the innovation of the whole chain of science, technology, products and market, strives to build itself into an international exchange and cooperation platform of scientific and technological innovation to integrate scientific and technological exchanges and the display, release and trading of innovative achievements. The Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Forum is a vanguard forum of 2020 ZGC Forum and an important part thereof.

With the theme of jointly building “Jingwa New Model” and creating “Agricultural ZGC” together and the background of the construction of the Center, the Forum aims to explore the new model and new path of the construction of the Center and Pinggu Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Area and build the Center into an accelerator of “Golden Triangle” of agricultural science and technology innovation cooperation, a new engine of “Agricultural ZGC” as well as the driving force of agricultural science and technology innovation in China.

More than one hundred guests from government departments, foreign embassies in China, renowned universities, and scientific research institutions at home and abroad, leading agricultural enterprises, industrial organizations, and financial institutions attended the forum. Sun Qixin, President of China Agricultural University, Zhang Yanqiu, Director of the Plantation Management Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Wang Chengguo, Secretary of Pinggu District Party Committee of Beijing attended the forum and addressed the conference.

This forum has set up a platform for communication, a bridge for cooperation, and a window for external publicity for the government, scientific research institutions, and enterprises to discuss and consult together. During the forum, Wu Kongming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech on “Scientific and Technological Innovation to Promote the Leapfrog Development of Agriculture”; Wang Guofeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Capital Agribusiness and Food Group, made a speech on “Follow the Science and Technology, and Create a ‘Golden Triangle’ Model of Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Area of Pinggu District”; Mr. Arthur Mol, President of Wageningen University of the Netherlands, conducted online exchanges on the future vision of the Center jointly built by Wageningen University and Pinggu District Government; Mr. Wouter Verhey, Agricultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China, prospected the development of Sino-Netherlands agricultural cooperation; Ma Rongcai, Deputy Director and Superior Inspector of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced the construction plan of the Center; Mr. Chris de Visser, a senior researcher from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, conducted online exchanges on innovations and practices of Wageningen University’s “Golden Triangle” model; Nicolas FEGEANT, Director of International Affairs of the European Alliance of Planting Industries, shared online the establishment of the scientific innovation ecosystem of European planting industry and the prospect of cooperation with China; Li Shengli, professor of China Agricultural University and Chief Scientist of the National Dairy Industry System, delivered a speech on “Exploration of International Cooperation Model for Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation”.

To further strengthen exchanges, a top-level dialogue session was provided in the Forum, the seven six guests from the Pinggu District governmentGovernment, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affaris universities, China Office of Wageningen University and Research Centre, China Agricultural University, Beijing Capital Agribusiness and Food Group and New Hope Group and enterprises were invited to hold a dialogue on topics such as “How to Give Full Play to the Advantages of Universities in Scientific Research and Talent and Realize Efficient and Smooth Transformation of Scientific Research Achievements Based on the Platform of Jingwa Center” the “State-owned Enterprises Give Full Play to Their Advantages to Promote and Support the Center”, etc. Guests focused on how to promote the construction of the Center, and actively put forward constructive suggestions and advice. At last, the guests also interacted with the audience.
