On April 22nd, as one of the series of activities of 2021 Zhongguancun Forum and the first roadshow after the establishment of Zhongguancun Liaison Office in Belgium, Cloud Roadshow of China-Belgium Collaborative Innovative Technology Project seamlessly linking with “European Gateway” Belgium was held as scheduled in Dongsheng International Science Park, Zhongguancun.

The roadshow is hosted by the office of the Organizing Committee of the Zhongguancun Forum, undertaken by Beijing Changfeng Information Technology Industry Alliance, Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce （BCECC） and the Liaison Office of Zhongguancun in Belgium, and supported by Beijing Beihang Xingkong Technology Development Co., Ltd., Beijing Herui Technology Co., Ltd. and the International Innovation Education Center of Zhongguancun Dongsheng International Science Park, which aims to further enhance the international cooperation in innovation elements through the science and technology interaction between China and Belgium, improve the frequency of technology and talent exchange between China and Belgium in cutting-edge science and technology fields, and accelerate the process of linking Beijing’s science and technology innovation enterprises with innovative resources such as talents, technologies and projects in international advanced fields.

Hou Yun, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, said in her speech that, “After more than 30 years of innovation and development, Zhongguancun has become the most dynamic region of innovation and entrepreneurship in China. At present, the development of science and technology has entered an era of global cooperation and collaborative innovation. The global entrepreneurial chain, value chain and supply chain have been deeply integrated. Zhongguancun is also actively participating in international exchanges and cooperation and integrating into the global innovation network. Zhongguancun attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with global innovation regions including Belgium, and is willing to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation on collaborative innovation with a more open, cooperative and win-win attitude. We hope to take advantage of the platform of Zhongguancun Forum to actively carry out exchanges and cooperation in resource docking, achievement transformation and technology trading, so as to make contributions to vigorously promote cooperation in a wider range of fields, at a higher level and at a deeper level.

Eric Farmay, vice chairman of the BCECC, delivered a speech online to the roadshow. He said, “As an important representative of innovative countries in science and technology, Belgium has witnessed China's important role in the world economy in recent years, and has felt the strong resilience and determination of the Chinese economy, and its political, economic and social impacts have been greatly affected unprecedentedly due to the outbreak and spread of COVID-19 in many places around the world. Through this opportunity of online connection with Beijing, China, we hope to fully demonstrate Belgium’s innovative achievements and innovative ability in advanced concepts, operation modes and scientific and technological formats, continuously deepen exchanges and docking between the two countries in various aspects, show the broad prospects and great potential of cooperation between the two countries, and realize win-win cooperation between the two countries with activities as the carrier.”

The road show was conducted in the form of presentation and expert comments, where the well-chosen 10 highly innovative and forward-looking high-quality projects in cutting-edge fields such as biomedicine and artificial intelligence from Belgium were introduced, and more than 30 investors and entrepreneurs of the demonstration area, such as Zhongguancun Information Valley, Ruisheng Investment, eCapital (Tianjin) Equity Investment Fund and Flyfot Ventures, were interacted and connected on the spot. The live broadcast of the roadshow, which lasted nearly three hours, attracted more than 50,000 views online.

This roadshow focuses on building a bridge of communication and exchange between domestic and foreign science and technology circles and industry circles to promote international cooperation in innovation, and being in line with the establishment of Zhongguancun Liaison Office in Belgium and the direct links between universities, research institutions, enterprises in parks, international organizations and field experts of the two countries to learn advanced international experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, show the new features of innovation and development of Zhongguancun and Beijing, and to deepen cooperation.
